Ad Fluvium Frigidum Festival of Late Antique Culture

Ad Fluvium Frigidum Festival of Late Antique Culture

Ad Fluvium Frigidum Festival of Late Antique Culture offers a proper taste of Roman way of life in Castra, one of the most important fortifications on our territory.

Ad Fluvium Frigidum Festival of Late Antique Culture is an event that takes you back to the time of Late Antiquity, when the Roman Castra was an important defensive point on our ground. The festival unites performers from different countries to bring Roman life to life through historical displays, battles, workshops and demonstrations of customs. Visitors can learn about everyday Roman life, visit a real Roman camp, participate in workshops to learn about Roman military equipment, food and games, and watch spectacular performances such as the Battle of the Cold River.

The festival will take place between 20 and 22 June 2025 at four venues: Lavričev trg, the Castle Garden, the area between the Castle Garden and the Hubelj River, and the area below the Školj Hill (for the Battle of the Cold River).

The festival, which takes place in the heart of Ajdovščina, revives historical events and contributes to the preservation and promotion of Roman heritage, connecting cultural heritage with local tourism. The festival is part of the RIMROM project, funded by European Union from the Small Project Fund GO! 2025 of the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia 2021-2027 programme, managed by the EGTC GO.
