Optical art: Pure black and white

Optical art: Pure black and white

Optical art, or op art, is a form of abstract art that is very much related to how our eyes see and what our brains see.

If the sight of artworks makes your head spin or even seems to move, then you are at Victor Vasarely's exhibition at the MGLC Ljubljana.

With a selection of the artist's prints, paintings and objects from various periods of his career, the exhibition offers Slovenian audiences for the first time in many years a more comprehensive insight into the work of this exceptional Hungarian-French artist, a pioneer of op art. It also presents a selection of works by Slovenian and Croatian artists related to Vasarely; and last but not least, Victor Vasarely is part of the history of the Ljubljana Biennial of Graphic Arts, which celebrates its 70th anniversary in 2025.
