By organising the Jenko Days, the town of Kranj would like to pay tribute to Simon Jenko, who is considered by Slovenian literary history to be one of the most influential Slovenian poets, even though he only published one collection of poetry in his lifetime, simply entitled Poems. This year, we are focusing on a programme aimed at different age groups, with poetry as the main theme.
For several years, the Kranj Institute for Tourism and Culture has been bringing together various stakeholders in a group that strives to give Simon Jenko his rightful place among the creators of the written word. The project is also joined as a partner by the Slovene Writers' Association, Layer's House, JSKD IO Kranj, the Simon Jenko - Šmonec Mavčiče Cultural Association and the Kranj City Library.
