June in Ljubljana

June in Ljubljana Festival enriches the summer scene in the capital with a diverse, high-quality, and free programme. The festival offers music, dance, theatre, art, and social events for all generations.

The 17th June in Ljubljana Festival will open with a concert by the Big Band of the Slovenian Armed Forces Orchestra, featuring guests Nuška Drašček and Leopold I. This will be followed by performances from the Slovenian band with Brazilian rhythms Bossa de Novo with vocalist Nina Strnad, as well as young musical talents from Ljubljana’s primary schools. A special day will be dedicated to ballet, performed by students of the Ljubljana Conservatory of Music and Ballet, while children can enjoy as many as twenty shows. The University of Ljubljana will host a full day of events with its artistic programme and gala ceremony. The festival will also feature Circus Day, the Pride Parade, city walks showcasing the history of Slovenian female architects, and classical music concerts by the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra and the international Youth Orchestra Alpe-Adria, which will close this year’s festival on 25 June.

On the summer solstice, 21 June, Ljubljana will join over 700 cities worldwide in celebrating World Music Day (orig. Fête de la Musique, slo. Praznik glasbe), with more than 400 musicians performing at various locations throughout the city.

Every day from 3 pm to 8 pm, the Library Under the Treetops will be open in Zvezda Park, inviting visitors to enjoy reading.
