Trans Dinarica, the international cycling route across the rugged Dinaric Karst of the Western Balkans, has been a hit from the start. Even before its official launch, it was recognised as a great travel experience by Lonely Planet and awarded the "Best in travel 2024" badge. It has also been praised by other prominent media, including CNN, Timeout and Outside magazine. Trans Dinarica starts in Slovenia, at the foot of the Alps, and takes cyclists through karst terrain towards Croatia. With cycling craze thanks to the success of world-class riders such as Tadej Pogačar and Primož Roglič, Slovenia has a vibrant recreational cycling community and a growing network of cycling events and infrastructure.

The Trans Dinarica route takes full advantage of Slovenia's varied landscape and its characteristics. It begins its journey through Slovenian territory on the edge of the Julian Alps and Triglav National Park in Tolmin. From there, it meanders along the emerald-green Soča River through the Goriška Brda wine region, ventures into the Karst and leaves Slovenia at Ilirska Bistrica.

In addition to the main route, a 250-kilometre secondary route runs through Čepovan, Postojna, Pivka, and Volovja Reber.

The Trans Dinarica route is only available in digital form, with no physical markings on the route itself. You can download a general map for each country free of charge, which includes the route, elevation profile and essential technical details about the length and altitude of each stage. For a nominal fee of €2 per stage, you can purchase navigation packages that ensure accurate routing and timely updates, with the proceeds supporting the maintenance of the navigation system and working with local accommodation, food and service providers.
