Tour of Slovenia – the peak cycling event on Slovenian roads

The Tour of Slovenia is the premier cycling event in the country, featuring a top-tier national and international line-up of professional cyclists. Make a note of the date of this year's edition and see some impressions from past races.

The Tour of Slovenia, organised by the Adria Mobil Cycling Club, has been the country's biggest and most prestigious cycling event for many years.

Over six years of collaboration with Eurosport and live broadcasts on RTV Slovenia, the race has reached more than 56 million television viewers, with over 10 million tuning in last year alone.

With a history spanning over 30 years, the Tour of Slovenia has cemented its international reputation, welcoming world-class cyclists and teams. The race was won by, among others, two of the world's best cyclists and the home favourites, Primož Roglič and Tadej Pogačar. Throughout the years, the race has evolved into a one-of-a-kind sporting event, linking Slovenia's diverse landscapes through its dynamic stage routes. Attracting thousands of roadside spectators and millions of television viewers, it showcases the beauty of Slovenia's boutique and green tourism.


The Tour of Slovenia will be held for the thirty-first time in 2025. Cyclists will ride on Slovenian roads between 4 and 8 June.

Live on Eurosport – A treat for millions of viewers

The Tour of Slovenia has become a must-watch event for cycling enthusiasts. As in previous years, the race will be broadcast live on Eurosport, a leading global sports network. Millions of viewers on Eurosport 1 will be able to watch live daily coverage as well as replays of previous stages, following professional cyclists as they conquer Slovenia's stunning landscapes, from challenging climbs and thrilling descents to flat-out sprints. Meanwhile, breathtaking helicopter footage will provide a unique aerial perspective of Slovenia's picturesque scenery.

Through the five stages of this year’s race

As is tradition, this year's race will consist of five stages, starting on Wednesday, 4 June, in the coastal gem of Piran and concluding on Sunday, 8 June, in Novo mesto, a city that has long been the race's final destination. Over the course of five days, cyclists will cover more than 840 kilometres. On the third stage, the route will briefly cross into Croatia, adding an international element to the race.

Stage 1: Piran–Škofljica

4 June 2025

The first stage of this year's Tour of Slovenia begins on the coast, in the charming seaside town of Piran. Cyclists will then head towards Koper, another historic coastal city and an important port hub. The route continues through the karst landscapes, passing Divača and Postojna, before heading towards the Ljubljana Marshes and the capital, Ljubljana. The first day of the Tour of Slovenia concludes in Škofljica.

Stage 2: Velenje – Rogaška Slatina

5 June 2025

The second stage of this year's race will be similar to last year's, except that the riders will start in Velenje. From the Šaleška Valley, known for its rich mining heritage, cyclists will ride towards Šoštanj. Along the way, they will pass Žalec, Slovenia's hop-growing capital, home to the famous Beer Fountain and the Eco Museum of Hop-Growing and Brewing. The race then continues through Celje, a historic city shaped by the Ancient Romans, the Counts of Celje and world traveller Alma Karlin. To reach the final destination in Rogaška Slatina, famous for its unique mineral water with the highest magnesium content in the world and its exceptional crystal, cyclists pass by another historic town, Šentjur.

Stage 3: Majšperk – Ormož

6 June 2025

The third stage takes cyclists through one of Slovenia's most renowned wine regions. Starting in Majšperk, at the edge of the Dravinja Hills, the route leads first to Ptuj, Slovenia's oldest town and then into the Prlekija region. During this stage, cyclists will also briefly cross into Croatia. The finish line awaits in Ormož, nestled in the picturesque Jerusalem Hills.

Stage 4: Maribor – Golte

7 June 2025

The Royal Stage, traditionally the most spectator-packed leg of the race, will this year lead into the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. The climbing section of this year's race heads to Golte, a popular mountain and ski resort in the Upper Savinja Valley. Before reaching the mountains, cyclists will cover several flat kilometres. The start of the fourth stage will be in Maribor, Slovenia's second-largest city and home to the oldest grapevine in the world. The route then passes through Slovenska Bistrica, the thermal spa town of Zreče and Vitanje, home to the Noordung Space Technology Centre. From there, the race continues towards the Upper Savinja Valley, finishing at Golte.

Stage 5: Litija – Novo mesto

8 June 2025

The final stage follows a scenic circular route through the Dolenjska region, with the traditional grand finish in Novo Mesto. The region, known as the land of vineyard cottages and Cviček wine, captivates with its rolling hills and rich wine culture. The stage begins in Litija, the starting point of the traditional Fran Levstik Literary Walk to Čatež. Cyclists will then pass through Trebnje and Šentrupert, home to an open-air museum featuring Slovenia's unique hayracks. The race continues through Mokronog before concluding in Novo Mesto.
