CONDÉ NAST TRAVELER: Gorenjska among the best places to go in Europe in 2026

The Julian Alps, Lake Bled, the Triglav National Park and “villages plucked straight from fairy tales” have impressed the editors of the renowned travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler, who placed the north-western Slovenian region of Gorenjska (Upper Carniola) among the best places to go in Europe in 2026. In light of the Winter Olympic events in Italy, it highlights Gorenjska as having excellent breathing room away from the shoulder-to-shoulder crowds in the neighbouring country. The magazine also notes a new digital nomad visa and major new developments that are expected to see the light of day in 2026 – the Lah Museum in Bled and Kneipp NaturHotel Snovik. Of course, they did not forget about the largest performance art spectacle of 2026 in Slovenia – the Škofja Loka Passion Play.

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC: Lake Bohinj among the five European lakes well worth visiting

An article in National Geographic highlights five European lakes, each of which is fascinating in its own way, especially on summer days. One of them is Lake Bohinj. The article says that the very first glimpse of the lake in the Triglav National Park, nestled among the mighty Alpine peaks, is breath-taking. In addition to swimming, the lake offers many water activities, while its surroundings will not leave active explorers unimpressed, either. On-high views of the lake can be enjoyed from Vogel, where you will be taken by cable car. The view of the nearby Savica Waterfall, shooting over the cliffs of Komarča in magnificent style, is equally stunning.
