With its diverse and unspoiled natural landscape, Slovenia attracts mountain biking enthusiasts; however, to protect the sensitive environment, the applicable laws must be observed. Mountain biking is permitted on paved gravel and forest roads, as well as on specially marked and maintained MTB trails. Riding outside these areas, on narrow forest trails or mountain trails, is permitted only where it is expressly authorised and marked with a bicycle symbol.

Mountain biking loop among the “osmice” wine bars in the Karst region

Combine a scenic mountain bike ride through the Karst landscape with a visit to typical Karst “osmice”, where you can taste local delicacies – from wine to prosciutto. The entire route, shaped like a figure-eight loop, is a good 134 kilometres long. You can bike the entire route or split it into two parts, starting in Dutovlje.

Pohorje Cycling Transversal

You can cycle them in five stages, taking the 132-km-long mountain biking trail from the municipality of Jezersko to Tromeja, the place where three countries meet.
