Top experiences for golf lovers

When playing golf in Slovenia, make sure to also enjoy world-class accommodation, gastronomy, nature, and culture.

Create your perfect golfing holiday

Slovenia is a great destination for golfers, as they can play at various courses around Slovenia in a single day due to the relatively short distances. Golfers don’t like coming to Slovenia just for the well-maintained courses, but also for the exciting adventures in their vicinity. Enjoy the views of picturesque nature, go on a top-notch culinary journey, enjoy some wellness treatments in nearby spas, learn about the lively cultural vibe, and at the end of the day rest in the shelter of castle walls or surrounded by nature in luxury glamping accommodation facilities.

Slovenia is the host of IGTM in 2018

In October of this year, Slovenia will host a prestigious event in the world of golf – the International Golf Travel Market (IGTM). Because it is organising such an event, Slovenia is put on the map of the most sought-after golfing destinations in Europe.

A game of golf with a view

Golf courses around Slovenia are located among mighty Alpine peaks, idyllic gentle wine-growing hills, on karstic soil, and in the vicinity of the capital city of Ljubljana. No matter where you go, you can enjoy unforgettable views of green nature. At the Royal Bled Golf Course, you can enjoy the incredible view of the peaks in the Julian Alps and the Karavanke Alps. The Bovec Golf Course is located in the Julian Alps, near the emerald Alpine beauty, the River Soča – there, you can also enjoy some footgolf. Play a game of golf in pine woods with small lakes and a view of the Kamnik and Savinja Alps, in the vicinity of the blooming flower patches of the Volčji Potok Arboretum. Next to the golf course in  Lipica, you can also visit the famous stud farm and admire the elegance of the white Lipizzaner horses.

Golf and spa – a perfect match!

Some golf courses are located near thermal spas, so you can enjoy some treatments and regeneration after a game of golf. Have fun at the golf course in Ptuj, where you can find a hole on an island and enjoy a view of the Ptuj Castle – and make sure to then enjoy some ancient Roman-style wellness treatments at the Terme Ptuj Spa. After a game of golf in Olimje, get re-energised at the unique wellness centre of the Terme Olimia Spa. In the gentle hills and plains of Prekmurje, a golf course is located near the Terme 3000 Moravske Toplice Spa, where you can focus on your health and wellness by enjoying unique black thermal and mineral water.

Enjoy selected gastronomic delights

Would you like to taste something delicious after a game of golf? Near most of Slovenia’s golf courses, you can enjoy some world-class culinary experiences. If you're playing golf among the gentle wine-growing hills of Slovenske Konjice, you can also visit the Zlati Grič winery, where you can go to the most modern wine cellar in the region and taste selected local wines and have lunch a restaurant there. If you're at the golf course in Bovec, you can visit the nearby town of Kobarid and enjoy a culinary experience at Hiša Franko, which is among the top 50 restaurants in the world, home to the world-renowned chef Ana Roš. If you visit the golf courses near the capital – Diners Golf Ljubljana or Trnovo, make sure to also visit the restaurant of the world-renowned chef Janez Bratovž in the centre of Ljubljana.

Castle luxury for some good rest

Feel like royalty as you spend the night sheltered by castle walls. Just near the age-old forests of the Gorjanci Hills and in the vicinity of the gentle wine-growing hills of Bizeljsko, you can find the medieval Mokrice Castle, which has been remodelled and made into a boutique hotel. One of Slovenia’s most beautiful golf courses is located right next to the castle. Surrounded by the green River Krka, enjoy a golfing and castle luxury experience at the estate of Otočec Castle. Just a few kilometres from Kranj, play golf at the idyllic Brdo golf course, and spend the night in nearby Strmol Castle, where you can even become the lord of the castle for one night only.

World class comfort in the embrace of nature

If you’d like to spend the night under the stars, surrounded by nature, but still enjoy pleasant comfort, choose to stay at one of the glamping accommodation facilities near golf courses. At Lake Bled make sure to make a stop at the unique Garden Village resort or enjoy the comfort of the Gozdne Vile (Forest Fairies) glamping in the immediate vicinity of the lake. Near the Moravske Toplice Spa, find comfortable shelter in the idyllic cottages in the Pannonian Village. In Ptuj you can simply spend the night in wine barrels – which have of course been adjusted to accommodate comfortable rest and relaxation. If you're seeking romance and glamour, visit Olimia Adria Village Glamping.

Exciting moments experiencing culture

When on holiday in Slovenia, you can also make your holiday even more interesting by exploring cultural gems and attending cultural events. The most lively cultural vibe awaits you in Ljubljana, where you can visit many museums and galleries, listen to world-class musical events and attend theatrical events, or take a stroll among the architectural masterpieces designed by Jože Plečnik. Visit the most exquisite Slovenian sights, such as Lake Bled and Lipica.
