Slovenia Green Pannonian Route: Heart of Europe

The shortest and easiest green cycling route explores the easternmost part of Slovenia, extending into the Pannonian Plain, in three days. The width of the Prekmurje plains offers plenty of space for cycling routes to fit between roads and wide fields. Excellent for relaxed cycling. But it won’t be completely effortless, as you’ll have some climbs waiting for you in Goričko. The route also takes you among the romantic hills of the Jeruzalem hills, one of Slovenia’s most distinctive wine-growing areas. Additionally, Pomurje is famous for its rich culinary offer and the friendly, open-minded people who will be happy to offer you something delicious to get you on your way.

Slovenia Green Solčava Panoramic Route: exploring a paradise valley

A six-day holiday in the Solčava region is ideal for those who can’t keep still in their free time. On this tour, you’ll not only cycle, but also roam the slopes of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, pet sheep in the pastures, learn about history from prehistoric times onwards, and refresh yourself with water flowing directly from the beautiful peaks. If you’re tempted to climb these peaks, ask for a local guide and swap your bike for hiking boots for a few hours. On this tour, you can return to the same starting point every day, probably one of the idyllic tourist farms. The perfect choice for an active family holiday.

Slovenia Green Kočevsko Cycling Loop: wild but friendly

Want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city? Would you like to breathe clean air together with bears, wolves and centuries-old spruces and beech trees? In short, do you like wilderness? Welcome to Kočevsko, the most forested area in Slovenia. After crossing the forests south-west of Kočevje, you’ll descend via the Strma reber switchback road, and then cycle for two days along the Kolpa, one of Europe’s cleanest rivers. You might be tempted to extend your tour and swap your bike for a kayak for a while, or just take a short break lying on the riverbank and swimming in Slovenia’s warmest river.

Slovenia Green Capitals Escape Route: escape from the city to nature

When you think of ‘capitals’, you probably think of big cities with crowded streets and towering skyscrapers, but the Slovenia Green Capitals Escape Route has an entirely different tune. Although the route starts in Ljubljana, Slovenia’s capital and one of the greenest capitals, you can escape into nature immediately after exiting the city. Into forests and capitals of a different kind: forested Kočevsko is the capital of nature, and Bela Krajina is the capital of culture. You can return by hopping on a train in Metlika with your bike and seeing this part of green Slovenia from a different perspective.
