Barcolana – an annual feast for the eyes

Barcolana, named after the former Slovenian fishing village of Barkovlje, is a traditional autumn international regatta that attracts many boats every year on the second Sunday in October. Did you know that with 2,689 boats participating in 2018, Barcolana set a world record for participation in an international group-start regatta? A regatta that also takes place along the Slovenian coast and in which Slovenians also participate is certainly a feast for the eyes. All boats of at least 6 metres in length can take part. This gives amateur sailors a great opportunity to appear on the start line together with professionals in larger boats.

Coastal towns to visit on your sailing trip

Slovenia's 43 kilometres of coastline offer many picturesque spots that are worth seeing from the sea. It is especially worth stopping to visit the coastal towns, which reflect history and tradition as well as offer a modern, vibrant pulse.
