Urban meeting spots that you must visit

Are you one of those who, upon arriving in a city, immediately ask where the action is? If you like a lively social life in urban environments, then you’re sure to enjoy Slovenia, which offers places where you can experience a lively and relaxed summer buzz. Every city has its own heart, where locals and visitors alike enjoy getting together. Let us help you with tips on where to go for a chat over coffee or a fun evening with friends.

Social Ljubljana

The Slovenian capital, Ljubljana, offers the most summertime social life in its centre. We usually meet in "Prešerc", i.e. Prešeren Square, from where we head out towards the lively buzz on the banks of the Ljubljanica. If you turn left, you can stop by one of the pleasant bars onPetkovšek Embankment. Awaiting you on the other side, towards Trnovo, is the lively Breg, where in addition to various bars, you will come across flea markets and occasional art fairs on Saturdays. If your path takes you across the Triple Bridge, turn left to visit Plečnik's Central Market, where the popular Open Kitchen offers its flavours every Friday, if the weather is good. On the other side, you can sit by the Ljubljanica on the Cankarjev and Gallus embankments, and if you move a little further away from the river, a lively atmosphere with boutiques, galleries, restaurants and bars also awaits you in the old part of Ljubljana from the Town Hall to Upper Square.

A little removed from the narrow centre of Ljubljana is the popular Špica meeting spot, where you hop on a tourist boat and take a trip on the Ljubljanica. Art lovers can take a stroll from Prešeren Square to Tivoli Park. In this part of the capital, you can find the National Gallery, Modern Gallery, Opera and Ballet, Lily Novy Garden, Jakopič Promenade and International Graphic Arts Centre, which also features a popular bar and a scenic viewpoint.
