A quick visit to Triglav National Park

The only national park in Slovenia and one of the oldest parks in Europe offers plenty of opportunities for active and environmentally friendly leisure time. You can help protect the unique natural and cultural heritage typical of the Slovenian Alpine world by using public transport that connects many of the park’s top attractions.

Visit website

Admire the surroundings while driving along the Bohinj Trail, one of the most picturesque railway tracks in Europe.  There’s plenty of space on the train for your bike.  And there is also a car train that runs between Bohinj and the Soča Valley.

You can also reach the sights by hop-on, hop-off buses, provided in all villages in the park.

You can tour the lakes of Bohinj and Bled by electric-powered tourist boats.  On Lake Bled you can also take a ride in a traditional pletna boat and forever cherish the experience.

Of course, you can connect even deeper with unspoiled nature on foot or on a bicycle.  There is no shortage of hiking and cycling trails here.

Natural features and attractions to visit in Triglav National Park

The Julian Alps that harbour the only Slovenian national park are rich with natural treasures and cultural heritage features forged by events from the past. Do not miss them! .

The mysterious underground of the Škocjan Cave Regional Park

The beauties of Slovenian nature parks go deep below the surface, and the Škocjan Cave Regional Park invites you on a unique experience to discover the Karst underground.

Visit website

You can only visit this unique UNESCO natural heritage site on foot and thus with a zero carbon footprint.  You can join a guided tour of the underground canyons, tunnels, halls and abysses any day, all year round.

In addition, the Rakov Škocjan Natural Science Education Trail that winds through the park offers an insight into the special features of the Karst landscape and highlights the importance of preserving such unique natural habitats.

Cycling enthusiasts can ride their bikes to another beautiful Karst spot – the Lipica Stud Farm with its photogenic Lipizzaner horses.

Škocjan Caves and the surrounding karst-related sights

Although the main attraction of the Škocjan Cave Park is the impressive underground canyon, its surroundings will also impress you with stunning natural treasures.
