The world's volleyball elite in Slovenia

Slovenia and Poland have taken over the organisation of the Men's Volleyball World Championship, which was originally scheduled to be hosted by Russia. This was the second high-profile volleyball competition for Slovenia in the last three years, following on from the 2019 European championship. The central venue in Slovenia was the Stožice Arena in Ljubljana, where the fans created an electric atmosphere during the group stage matches, the round of 16 and the quarter-final matches.

Stožice Arena - a venue for major sporting events

The main volleyball venue in Slovenia is the Stožice Arena in Ljubljana. Slovenia's largest arena, just a step away from the true centre of Ljubljana, can accommodate more than 12,000 spectators under its roof. With its impressive architecture and modern facilities, the Stožice Arena provides an exceptional experience for performers and spectators alike. So far, it has hosted a number of attractive events, high-profile concerts and international sporting competitions. In addition to the World and European Volleyball Championship, it has also been the venue for the Men's EuroBasket, the Women's European Handball Championship and the Women's European Basketball Championship.

The volleyball frenzy in Slovenia continues. Due to the success of Slovenian volleyball players and the organisation of important volleyball competitions. In 2024, between 18 and 23 June, Ljubljana will be the venue for one of the three Nations League tournaments, which will have a special significance this year, as the volleyball players will also be chasing entry to the Olympic Games in Paris. In addition to Slovenia, the national teams of Poland, Italy, Argentina, Serbia, Turkey, Cuba and Bulgaria will also play in Stožice.
