View of the Julian Alps from a bike

The Kingdom of the Goldenhorn, as we like to call the world of the Julian Alps, is full of stunning beauty that is well worth exploring. Now you can get to know it all by bike by touring the highest Slovenian mountain range. The Juliana Bike Mountain Bike Loop takes you around and across the Julian Alps and is part of the Slovenian touring cycling trail. It connects villages, towns, valleys, passes and plateaus. Your journey around and across the Julian Alps begins in Bohinj, more precisely in Bohinjska Bistrica, and first takes you across Goreljko to the green Pokljuka, overgrown with vast spruce forests. From there, you descend to Gorje and along the picturesque valley of the river Radovna to Mojstrana. There you can join a long-distance cycling trail that takes you to the famous mountain centre, Kranjska Gora. Across the Vršič mountain pass, which by the way represents a real challenge for cyclists, you cycle to the other side, to the Soča Valley. First to Bovec and then to Tolmin. Through Zakojca you cycle to the Cerklje side. From there, the trail leads you to Podbrdo and across Soriška planina back to Bohinjska Bistrica.
