200 years of brewing in Laško
In 1825, the mead and gingerbread maker Franz Geyer set up the first craft brewery in the former Valvasor Hospital in Laško, laying the foundations for what would become Slovenia's largest brewery. Nestled in the Lower Savinja Valley, famous for its hop-growing tradition, Laško continues to be a thriving hub of brewing culture. Its rich brewing heritage remains an integral part of the Laško experience.

150th anniversary of the birth of the inventor Baron Anton Codelli
Baron Anton Codelli is considered one of the pioneers of automobilism in Slovenia. In 1898, he caused a sensation among the citizens of Ljubljana when he "roared" into the city with the first automobile on Slovenian soil. This was just one aspect of his remarkable life as a passionate inventor and adventurer. Codelli's contributions to mechanical and electrical engineering include innovations such as the electric ignition device for motor vehicles, a mechanical lawnmower and the construction of the first intercontinental radio station connecting Europe and Africa. He also designed a motorboat and ventured into aviation. While serving in Africa, Codelli also made a name for himself as a film producer. He was the last owner of the Kodeljevo castle in Ljubljana, which is now surrounded by a park that bears his name.
130 years of the Aljaž Tower atop Triglav
Triglav is not only the highest mountain in Slovenia, but also a powerful symbol of Slovenian identity. In 1895, Jakob Aljaž, a priest from the village of Dovje, and his colleagues erected a cylindrical tower on the mighty mountain's peak in the Julian Alps. Both the mountain and the tower have a deep symbolic meaning for the Slovenian people. Today, 130 years later, the Aljaž Tower still stands proudly atop Triglav, serving as one of Slovenia's most iconic landmarks. To learn more about the tower's fascinating history, visit the Slovenian Alpine Museum in Mojstrana, which is hosting a special exhibition to mark its 130th anniversary.

660 years of Novo mesto
The year 2025 will be a festive year for the center of the Dolenjska region, situated at the bend of the river Krka, on account of the celebration of the 660th anniversary of the city's founding. On 7 April 1365, the Habsburg Archduke Rudolf IV of Austria granted Novo mesto the town privileges, at that time calling the town after himself – Rudolfswert. Although the “official” urban history of Novo mesto began 660 years ago, archaeological findings indicate that the area was inhabited much earlier. The greatest treasure of the Iron Age is situlae, and Novo mesto itself is considered one of the largest sites of situlae in the world. You can see them in the Dolenjska Museum, which is located in the well-kept old town center of Novo mesto.
