Write your own city story.
Step into the shoes of the local townspeople and become a part of the life in the charming old city centres, where everything is within arm’s reach. Awaken in a romantic boutique hotel and enjoy your morning coffee in a pleasant café before heading out to explore the city. Discover the local attractions and points of interest, indulge in some shopping at the boutique shops or visit the nearby galleries and museums. Go with the social flow and have a chat with the locals.
The boutique stories of Ljubljana’s old town centre
The old town centre of Ljubljana tells many different stories. You may be inspired by Plečnik’s legacy, daydreaming along the banks of the Ljubljanica River or the lively pulse of the city marketplace. Walk along the charming streets and stop in at the boutique shops selling crystal and glassware, Slovenian specialities and designer products, and have lunch or dinner at one of the smaller restaurants.
And if you get tired, you can find your perfect shelter at one of the select boutique hotels in the very centre of the city.
Lose yourself in the narrow streets and among the picturesque Venetian palaces in the heart of the coastal town of Piran. Breathe in the salty air that has marked the town for centuries. Its romantic soul will enchant you and awaken your feelings at every step you take.
Cosy hospitality in the heart of the city hosting the world’s oldest grapevine
The second largest Slovenian city, Maribor, lies at the crossroads of the Alpine and Pannonian regions. It is home to the world’s oldest grapevine. Visit the famous district of Lent, where there is always something going on. Taste wine from the world’s oldest grapevine and other wines from nearby vineyards. Indulge in authentic cuisine of the Štajerska region, combined with modern culinary creativity.
Enjoy the charm of the old town centre of Radovljica. The beautifully preserved townhouses, excellent street fare, boutique galleries and the majestic mansion in which the Beekeeping Museum is located, fill hearts with a pleasant warmth.
Do you like old cars? Then you have to experience staying at the award-winning boutique Hotel Actum in Kranj. The hotel is a combination hotel and museum, as you will find parts of old-time cars at every corner, either as exhibition pieces or as part of the hotel furnishings.
From the hotel you can take a drive, pardon, a walk around the old town centre, where you can visit several galleries, go shopping at the boutique shops featuring handicraft and designer products, stop in at one of the cafés or restaurants, and during the evening you can go looking for your favourite concert or attend the Prešeren Theatre.
Rev up your time machine and go back to the days of the Romans, ladies-in-waiting and knights, and the refined bourgeois families of Ptuj. Discover the traces of the past and the hidden corners of Slovenia’s oldest town, home of the Kurent.
Visit Ptuj Castle and then descend down into the old town streets, where you will find the boutique Hotel Mitra. Here in modern style you can experience the spirit of the ancient Romans, enjoy a relaxed chat at the oldest café in town or stop in at a wine cellar featuring wines that are more and 100 years old.
The city of youth, as we like to call Nova Gorica, lies between two of Slovenia’s best wine-growing regions – the Vipava Valley and Goriška Brda. They are home to premium wines and excellent cuisine, and the mild Mediterranean climate allows visitors to actively explore the surroundings all year round.
Nova Gorica also boasts a Michelin star restaurant. The Dam Hotel and Restaurant, where Uroš Fakuč creates his dishes, is a perfect haven for gourmets and anyone seeking modern charm and creativity. It offers a feast for all the senses, whether in the rooms or the dining room.
Boutique and cosy with a touch of nostalgia in Slovenj Gradec
The Koroška region is a treasure trove of experiences, both in its pristine nature, rich in forests, and in towns with rich historical and cultural heritage. A stroll through the medieval town of Slovenj Gradec reveals a number of interesting facts from the past and introduces some of the famous residents who carried the name of this town into the world.
Part of this past is also the more than 200-year-old town house in the centre of the town, which has now been converted into a boutique hotel. Hiša Ančka offers a cosy haven for travellers with its superior rooms and suites and a restaurant full of gourmet dishes and pizzas prepared in the Neapolitan style.
Posavje is known as the Slovenian land of castles. One of the seven jewels among Slovenian castles is located in Sevnica, the hometown of the former First Lady of the United States, Melanija Trump. Next to the castle, you will find the castle’s Blaufränkisch vineyard, which has a special place in Sevnica and Posavje.
Sevnica is also home to the Ajdovec Family Hotel, which follows both a rich tradition and modern trends with a focus on sustainability. The hotel restaurant offers dishes made with fresh local ingredients, while in the café you can indulge in the house speciality – Melanija cake.
