On Tuesday, 6 November, the second day of the WTM London, the fourteen winners of the first International Travel & Tourism Awards have been revealed at a glittering awards ceremony. They applied with the project “Supporting Slovenia Tourism Board’s World Bee Day: Introducing Api Tourism to the World”.

Judged by an independent panel of experts from around the world, the 14 awards showcased the best in class of the global travel and tourism industry. ITTA’s Co-Founder Paul Nelson said; “We have been delighted with the response from the industry to the ITTAs and blown away by both the quantity and the qualities of the entries. All the finalists represent what these awards are about: celebrating the success of national, regional and city tourist boards and recognising outstanding private sector companies and individuals.”

The Healthy Waters campaign, launched by the Slovenian Tourist Board (STB), won in the prestigious WTM International Travel & Tourism Award in the "Best in Wellness" category. The award, conferred by the panel of expert judges of the WTM International Travel & Tourism Awards to the Slovenian Tourist Board (STB) at the World Trade Market (WTM) London is recognition of the success achieved by the STB's promotional activities in showcasing Slovenia as a sustainable country with a unique wealth of mineral waters that provide visitors with a healthy break in a country of five-star experiences.

"We are very proud of the award that the STB received from the most influential world travel market for its HEALTHY WATERS promotional campaign, which highlighted spa tourism and wellness tourism for two years. The award is of great importance for further strengthening Slovenia's position as a land of unique natural wealth and also serves as great incentive for continuing our efforts in promoting Slovenian tourism," stressed Msc. Maja Pak, Director of the Slovenian Tourist Board.

Apart from the Healthy Waters campaign, the STB's entry for winning the award also included other activities related to spa tourism and establishing Thermal Panonnian Slovenia as a macro-destination.

"Healthy Waters is not just an advertising campaign, but a wide, umbrella-like category that includes a wide range of activities of the Slovenian Tourist Board, spanning from advertising to development. These many various projects underway to promote the healing waters of Slovenian spa and wellness resorts," recorded the panel of expert judges.  The judges were in particular impressed by the global digital campaign that has spurred the attention of the global public. The STB emphasised that communications about the unique healing waters of Slovenia constituted 20 % of the digital campaign on social networks and in advertisements, and they were also the main topic at all key STB events."To fulfil the promise of quality wellness programmes, intense efforts had to be focused on product development, with a view to highlighting spa and wellness resorts as one of the leading tourism products of our country," they added.

The award is of utmost importance for further strengthening Slovenia's position as an excellent destination for healthy experiences in a sustainable country that places the development of high-quality tourism products of higher added value at the very centre of its activities.
