Foreign guest arrivals up by 10% in first seven months

31 August 2016According to provisional data provided by the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia (Statistični urad RS – SURS), Slovenian tourism recorded an 8% increase in tourist arrivals from January, up to and including July, and a 6% increase in overnight stays compared to the same period in 2015.

Excellent results were achieved last year by Slovenian tourism when, for the first time since gaining independence, Slovenia recorded more than 10 million tourist overnight stays and €2.2 billion in in tourism-related revenue. This trend has continued in the first seven months of this year. In the period from January, up to and including July, a total of 8% more tourist arrivals and 6% more overnight stays have been recorded compared to the same period last year. The number of foreign tourists increased by 10%, and the number of their overnight stays increased by 8%. Domestic tourism generated 4% more arrivals in the first seven months of this year and 1% more overnight stays.
