FIVB Volleyball Nations League Returns to Slovenia: A World-Class Sporting Event and a Top Opportunity to Promote Slovenian Tourism

FIVB Volleyball Nations League Returns to Slovenia: A World-Class Sporting Event and a Top Opportunity to Promote Slovenian Tourism

From 16 to 20 July 2025, Ljubljana will once again host one of the biggest volleyball events of the year. The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has entrusted Slovenia with organizing one of three men’s Volleyball Nations League (VNL) tournaments – a clear testament to Slovenia’s growing reputation as a sought-after destination for major international sporting events.

In partnership with the Slovenian Tourist Board (STB), the tournament also serves as an outstanding platform to showcase Slovenia as a top sports and tourism destination. The national I feel Slovenia brand will be prominently featured through creative promotional activities – from court-side branding and LED displays in the Stožice Arena to international TV broadcasts and digital platforms of FIVB and the Volleyball Federation of Slovenia (OZS). The tournament broadcast is expected to reach more than 500 million viewers worldwide, spotlighting Slovenia across key international markets.

“FIVB Volleyball Nations League in Ljubljana is a great opportunity to strengthen Slovenia’s image as an active, green and sustainable destination. It increases the country’s visibility and allows us to present its many attractions to sports fans and travellers alike. Through targeted promotional tools such as a video postcard broadcast during live TV coverage, high visibility of the I feel Slovenia brand throughout the venue and digital channels, and partnership with Slovenian volleyball players, we are building the image of Slovenia as a country where sports and tourism go hand in hand,” says MSc. Maja Pak Olaj, Director of the Slovenian Tourist Board.

The event will generate over 2,500 overnight stays in Ljubljana, highlighting its direct economic benefits for the local tourism and hospitality sectors. It also strengthens Slovenia’s position as the home of top athletes and an appealing destination for international sports tourism.

Highlights of the STB’s promotional activities during the tournament:

  • Video postcard of Slovenia featured in official TV broadcasts
  • I feel Slovenia brand presence on the court, LED boards, arena interiors, press backdrops, VIP lounges and entrances
  • Fan engagement activities for domestic and international supporters (including distribution of 9,000 I feel Slovenia fan flags, quizzes and in-game activations hosted by moderators)
  • Social media exposure via FIVB and OZS official channels, including the hashtag #ifeelsLOVEnia
  • Tourism promotion on official event websites (FIVB and OZS)
  • STB newsletter distribution to accredited international journalists
  • Involvement of Slovenian national team players in promotional content
