The Slovenian Tourist Board warmly welcomes visitors to experience the thrill of the Women's EuroBasket in Slovenia

The European Women's Basketball Championship, jointly hosted by Slovenia and Israel, is starting tomorrow and placing the spotlight on Slovenia as the host for most of the games. With 16 teams competing for the coveted title of European champions, this championship presents an excellent opportunity to promote Slovenia as a country known for its passion for sports. The Slovenian Tourist Board (STB) proudly joins as a partner, showcasing the "I feel Slovenia" brand and highlighting the captivating beauty of the country.

Slovenia will host C and D group matches in the group stage of the Women's EuroBasket, followed by the quarter-final qualifiers, the quarter-finals and the final battles, which will also take place in the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana, at the Stožice Arena.

The Championships in Slovenia are set to welcome approximately 150 foreign competitors, team members, esteemed representatives from the FIBA International Basketball Federation, national basketball associations, and sports organizations across Europe. Moreover, more than 100 foreign journalists and numerous passionate fans will attend the Championship live. With an estimated TV spectatorship of around 50 million and extensive promotion on social media platforms, the championship is poised to captivate a wide audience. In Ljubljana, the first round will witness the national teams of France, UK, Germany, Serbia, Turkey, Hungary, Slovakia, and Slovenia competing. All participating countries, except Turkey, represent key markets for Slovenian tourism. Furthermore, alongside Eurobasket, Slovenia will host five international congresses, further highlighting itself as a destination for various events.

MSc. Maja Pak, Director of the Slovenian Tourist Board and an ambassador of the Championships, highlighted the Women's Basketball Championship as a great opportunity to showcase Slovenia to the world: "The Women's Basketball Championship is a great opportunity to once again present Slovenia to the world as a country with a big sporting heart, a home of top athletes and the most passionate fans, an outstanding organiser of major sporting and other events, and a great destination for active holidays in the great outdoors. It is also an opportunity for us as a society to show that we stand for gender equalility in sports."

The Championships present an exceptional opportunity to generate significant visibility and engage with both professional and general audience, enabling Slovenia to showcase itself as a vibrant, sustainable, and active tourist destination under the I feel Slovenia brand.

To ensure maximum visibility, the Slovenian Tourist Board (STB) has strategically positioned the I feel Slovenia brand in prominent locations with excellent camera visibility throughout all matches held in Slovenia. LED screens near the field and backdrops for post-match TV announcements will prominently feature the brand. In partnership with the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), a captivating TV postcard highlighting Slovenia's beauties will address the spectators during TV broadcasts, while a compelling video of Slovenia will be showcased on the arena screens.

During the matches of the Slovenian national team, fans will be provided with I feel Slovenia fan props, creating a great atmosphere. The STB will feature Slovenia on its social media channels, as well as through the Fiba Women's Eurobasket and Basketball Federation of Slovenia networks. Additionally, the official event website will prominently showcase Slovenia, inviting visitors to explore the beauties of this captivating country.

Various engaging activities have been prepared by the STB to enhance the Women's Basketball Championship experience. These include a dedicated landing page, a promotional campaign on social media networks, a thrilling video quiz featuring Slovenian basketball players Tina Jakovina and Teja Oblak, and a newsletter sent to foreign media via FIBA.
