Between 4 and 7 May, Cape Town hosted the International Tourism Film Festival Africa (ITFFA), which, in addition to the competition for tourist and documentary films, also included an extensive educational program on the production of audiovisual works in tourism, and trends and challenges.

ITFFA is the largest festival of its kind in Africa. The purpose is to present the best tourist promotional and documentary films from around the world and encourage African creators.

At this year's festival, which was fourth in a row, 315 works from 55 countries were submitted. The works competed in three sets - Documentary and TV Winners, African Tourism Winners and International Tourism Winners. An international jury of experts in the field of marketing, tourism and audiovisualization selected the finalists as well as the winners in the categories of all three thematic sections.

More than 80 awards were presented Friday night at the gala event. Slovenia was represented by as many as four promotional works, which received two gold and two silver awards. Three works competed in the International Tourism Winners category and one as part of the Documentary and TV Winners. On behalf of Slovenia, the Honorary Consul General of Slovenia in Cape Town, dr. Dirk Prieur Du Plessis, received the awards. In the category of tourist products – gastronomy, the national promotional video of the Slovenian Tourist Board (STB): You can't spell Slovenia without love. Your plate awaits. received the gold award.

The video tells the story of sustainable Slovenian gastronomy, told through the stories of top chefs who were awarded Michelin stars in 2020, and their local suppliers, winemakers and growers. The video was created for the STB by the TENT production house, headed by internationally renowned photographer Ciril Jazbec. The video has already received prestigious international awards, including the first place in the category of Best International Video Promoting a Tourism Product at FITUR 2021, the New Food Trends category at the Film Food Menu competition organized by the International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, arts and tourism (IGCAT) and at the 2021 UNWTO Tourism Video Competition.

In the category of tourist services - accommodation, the silver award went to the promotional video of the Bohinj Hotel - Meet Your Spirit, which was created in cooperation with the Vizualist video and film production team.
