Slovenia ranks 2nd @ the World’s Best Tourism Films 2021 competition

Today, the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals (CIFFT) unveiled the 2021 World’s Best Tourism Films, the most prestigious competition for travel video marketing, which is why they are often referred to as »Tourism Oscars«. The official announcement was broadcast from Valencia.

The World’s Tourism Film Awards aim to stimulate, recognize and award creative excellence in tourism communication. Throughout the year, more than 3300 submissions from more than 90 countries competed in the tourism film festivals that are integrated in the CIFFT Circuit to achieve the highest recognition for Travel Video Marketing – the title of World’s Best Tourism Film. To achieve this prestigious nomination, participants had to win the largest number of awards in the CIFFT Circuit’s stages spread across four continents, which guaranteed access to the CIFFT Ranking List, the leading global resource for benchmarking creativity and effectiveness in Tourism Communication.

At the end of the year, the CIFFT Ranking List established the World’s Best Tourism Films in six thematic categories: Tourism Destinations City, Region and Country, Tourism Services,Tourism Products, and Independent Travel Videos. In the "Tourist Destinations – Countries" category, the STB with the “Time to #stayhome. Turn to nature and dream" video won second place. The winner in this category is Lithuania with the video »Lithuania. Discover Colours You Never Knew Existed". The third place went to Denmark with the "Much more than "just" Denmark" video.

With the video “Time to #stayhome. Turn to nature and dream ”, which was launched in April 2020, the STB invited social media followers from abroad to inspire and dream about Slovenia and plan a visit in the future, communicated with the message #StayHome so we can #TravelTomorrow. The emotional message shared hope that we will all soon be able to enjoy the natural beauties of Slovenia again. After the video was launched on the Feel Slovenia's social channels, it organically reached more than 300,000 online users. Even Luka Dončić, internationally known Slovenian basketball player and the ambassador of the Slovenian tourism, shared it on his personal Instagram and Facebook profile.

The winning video was created by the TENT production house, run by internationally renowned Slovenian photographer Ciril Jazbec. The video features laid-back scenes of lush green meadows, water, trees and local traditions, showcasing the picture of the future we want to return to. The STB’s campaign #StayHome, #TravelTomorrow stood out among many other inspirational campaigns, especially for its contemplative and genuine atmosphere.

The »Time to #stayhome. Turn to nature and dream« video has previously won numerous awards at international competitions, which strengthen the visibility of Slovenia as a green, sustainable boutique destination:

Slovenia featured among top 12 sustainable destinations

Condé Nast Traveller with a reach of 2 million readers published an article entitled "12 sustainable destinations we'd love to visit in 2022" featuring top destinations that, according to their sustainability editor Juliet Kinsman, deserve to be visited in 2022 thanks to their sustainability efforts. This is already the second article by Kinsman in less than two months, which openly praises Slovenia's devotion to sustainability. Let us recall: on November 3, Condé Nast Traveller sent out a special green-oriented newsletter on the occassion of COP26, which also featured Slovenia

Slovenia found itself in the company of the countries globally renowned for their sustainability efforts. With the exception of Bhutan, Barbardos, Madagascar and Costa Rica, the article features European countries: next to Slovenia, also Scotland, Finland,Germany, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Iceland. Kinsman praises Slovenia for its superb gastronomy ("but let's be honest - it's the chic and delicious eats that really woo us," she writes), the percentage of formally protected landscape (a 10th), diversity and also the Green Scheme of Slovenian Tourism. She highlights Vila Planinka in Jezersko, Zlata Ladjica Boutique Hotel in LjubljanaVipava Valley and its secret gem Cejokotova domačija (a tiny homestead), SunRose7 and the new Alpina Group hotels in Bohinj.
