Slovenia ranks 12th in Sustainable Development Report

This year’s Sustainable Development Report ranks Slovenia in 12thplace out of 162 countries.

Slovenia ranks 12th in Sustainable Development Report

The report places Slovenia on the 12th place out of 162 countries and points out that we have been particularly successful at eliminating extreme forms of poverty and providing access to greener energy sources.

Despite the fact that in the last year’s report Slovenia ranked 8th, this year’s ranking is also a great success, as the results can not be entirely comparable, due to the chance in the methodology.

In achieving 17 global goals, Slovenia has been most effective in eradicating extreme forms of poverty and providing accessibility to cleaner energy resources. The biggest challenges, on the other hand, remain measures aimed at eliminating hunger and ensuring sustainable methods of food production and consumption, measures to tackle the effects of climate change, and conservation of the sea and maritime resources.

The report also indicates that no country had yet realised all the goals of the Paris Agreement, which was signed four years ago. What is more, regression has been recorded in numerous fields.

When it comes to sustainability, the Slovenian Tourist Board is a major player on the international tourism podium. Let us recall: the focus on green, sustainable tourism lies at the very heart of our operations and is also considered as the right development opportunity for the country and its range of tourism products. The appealing competitively positioned range of tourism products based on the concept of sustainability and the development of high-quality and innovative tourism products with added value make Slovenia stand out from other tourist destinations.
