NEW! Pharmacy and alchemy museum in Radovljica

In early June, the doors of the Pharmacy and Alchemy Museum in Radovljica opened for the first time. Located in the old town of Radovljica, it provides yet another reason to visit this charming alpine town, which is mostly known for beekeeping tradition and the annual chocolate festival.

The Pharmacy and Alchemy Museum offers an insight into the past two millennia of pharmacy with an emphasis on its development on Slovenian territory. Resembling an old pharmacy it invites young and old.

Museum collection is set on display by Mioba, the family cosmetics company. They have collected these products for years. The exhibition includes the pharmacy equipment from the 18th and 19th centuries, a collection of Italian and Spanish decorated ceramic storage containers, a pharmacy and alchemy laboratory, a rich collection of mortars and pestles dating from the 12th to the 19th century, scales and weights. There are also 30 pharmaceutical books published between the 15th and 19th centuries exhibited in the museum.

Its unique feature is animation for the youngest visitors: they will be greeted by Slovenian wildlife creatures that will reveal them some of the ancient secrets of healing and magical power of nature.
