What’s new in Vipava Valley

We reveal additional two reasons, why Vipava Valley is a must-stop on your trip through Slovenia: learn about Forest Village Theodosius and Guerila Wine Cellar.

What’s new in Vipava Valley

Here are two additional reasons, why Vipava Valley is a must-stop on your trip through Slovenia - we have mentioned it already that Lonely Planet put it onto the list of the top destinations to discover in 2018, right? Now, the rolling hills of this wine-growing region feature two new architectural gems, which will surely greatly contribute to the further development of the area in terms of tourism: a set of wooden chalets named Forest Village Theodosius, where you can relax from everyday hustle and bustle, and Guerila Wine Cellar.

Forest Village Theodosius

Overlooking Vrhpolje village amidst the rolling hills of Vipava Valley, Forest Village Theodosius, a brand-new set of wooden chalets, offers the perfect combination of both worlds: truly authentic nature and modern comfort. At the same time, this place is inextricably linked to the past – hence the name. The village of Vrhpolje was named after Roman Emperor Theodosius and is nestled right by the cross where, according to legend, Theodosius came to pray for help in the battle against western Roman Emperor Eugenius in 394.

To add to this luxurious experience of having a chance to connect with the breathtaking natural scenery of the area, some of the chalets even offer a sauna and an outdoor hot tub. Further information is available here.

Guerila Wine Cellar

This week, a brand-new wine cellar opened its doors in Vipava Valley. But the wine-producer or the brand who built it is far for being new on the market. Guerila Wines have gained popularity by devoting to ecological and biodynamic wine production. In just a few years, they have won the world with authentic flavours – from Europe to America, Israel to Japan. With 3,000 vines on 16 hectares, the old wine cellar became too small.

The new Guerila Wine Cellar is located in the picturesque setting amidst the rolling green hills of Vipava Valley, where the first vines in the Vipava valley were planted. The cellar, which is partly in the ground and allows the processing of grapes without almost any pumps with free fall, features unique architecture, which amazes with combining the traditional materials from the area with a modern design. Additionally, the building houses also apartments, which can be rented. Further information about Guerila wines is available here
