Meet Cycling Ambassadors of Slovenia for 2019

For the third year in a row, the Cycling Ambassador of Slovenia will take place. Get ready to follow seven participants from different European countries that will cycle through Slovenia 28 May – 2 June. They will split into two groups: one group will discover the western part of Slovenia and the second eastern part.

You will have a chance to follow Kamila from Poland, Leon from Sweden, Antal from Hungary, Tjeerd from the Netherlands, Steven from the UK, Tyler from Ireland and Florent, who is French but lives in Slovenia, on their rides over rewarding landscapes and discovering Slovenia’s natural beauty, breathing the fresh air and refreshing themselves with natural spring water.

The start of this year’s event will be in Ljubljana on 28 May, when the whole group will discover the city with the retro Rog Pony bikes. Afterwards, they will split into two groups. The first group will start in Vipava, where they will first follow the path of one of this year’s stage of Tour of Slovenia Cycling Race, continue on to the Julian Alps and Cerkno adrenaline park and finish off with the participation at the 5th edition of Red Bull Goni Pony— the gnarliest #retro cycling race up the highest mountain pass in Slovenia. Here, they will meet the second group, who will before explore the eastern part of Slovenia, more precisely Jamnica Cycling Park, Peca underground, Logar Valley and Rogla.

The aim of the Cycling Ambassadors of Slovenia project is to present Slovenia as a great destination for various 5* outdoor experiences and at the same time showcasing the natural and cultural beauties of the country. The abundance of well-organized cycling routes leads through diverse landscapes, offering perfect terrains for family cycling as well as for those seeking more daring cycling experiences.

The popularity of cycling in Slovenia is also reflected in numerous cycling events, which include also the Tour of Slovenia, which will again be broadcast on Eurosport. Such events are of utmost importance for the positioning of Slovenia as an excellent destination for sports tourism, the preparation of athletes and the organization of international sports events. Last year's race showcased the beauties of 28 destinations and enchanted more than 9.3 million spectators who were watching the fight for the green jersey. Along with various social media channels, the race reached more than 37.6 million people.
