NEW in Slovenia Green – 12 destinations and one accommodation provider

The Slovenian Tourist Board (STB) awarded the Slovenia Green label to eleven destinations and one landscape park. In addition, Menina Campsite obtained the Slovenia Green Accommodation label.

At the end of March, the Slovenian Tourist Board (STB) awarded the Slovenia Green label to eleven destinations and one landscape park. The destinations included in the Green Scheme of the Slovenian Tourism (GSST) now represent 34 % of all Slovenian municipalities and make up as many as 74 % of all tourist arrivals of foreign and domestic guests. In addition, Menina Campsite has obtained the Slovenia Green Accommodation label.

In January 2018, the STB published the 4th appeal to join the Green Scheme of the Slovenian Tourism. 16 Slovenian destinations and one regional park applied for the assessment, which was followed by a year-long process, in which the destinations were not only assessed in 6 areas of sustainable tourism (Destination Management, Nature and Countryside, Environment and Climate, Culture and Tradition, Social Climate, Business of Tourism Companies), but they also needed to develop an action plan for improvement measurements. 12 destinations successfully concluded the process and received the Slovenia Green label: Miren Kras received the Slovenia Green Destination Gold label, Lenart, Sveta Ana, Brežice and Postojna received the Slovenia Green Destination Silver label, Razkriški kot, Kostanjevica na Krki, Moravske Toplice, Ljubno, Rečica ob Savinji and Kanal ob Soči received the Slovenia Green Destination Bronze label and the Logar Valley landscape park received the Slovenia Green Park label.

On the basis of the Green Key eco-label, the Menina campsite has receive the Slovenia Green Accommodation label and joined almost eighty accommodation providers that share the vision about the development of the Slovenian tourism and believe that Slovenia should remain green and further develop their sustainability under the auspices of the umbrella project, the Green scheme of the Slovenian tourism.
