Which is world’s hardest city to pronounce?

Recently, Daily Mail has published the results of a survey, which claims that the Slovenian city of Ptuj is the world’s hardest city for the British to pronounce. As an answer, locals of Ptuj prepared a video. Check it out!

Which is world’s hardest city to pronounce?

In September, British Daily Mail compiled a list of the world’s hardest pronounceable tourist destinations for British holidaymakers. Ptuj ranked first among the settlements. According to the survey, which served as an inspiration for the list, the pronunciation is “so phonetically baffling for Brits that 92% of those polled in a survey said it incorrectly”.

This inspired Ptuj Local Tourism Board to create a new promotional video, which teaches the visitors to pronounce the name of Slovenia’s oldest town correctly and at the same time invites you to discover natural and cultural treasures of the city.

Ptuj is the oldest city in Slovenia, which offers a great number of different experiences, among them also the UNESCO listed “Door-to-door rounds of Kurenti”, which were inscribed to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2017.
