Slovenian Culture Day in Brussels
The Association of Historical Cities of Slovenia and the Slovenian Tourist Board are organizing Slovenian Culture Day in Brussels next week.

The European Commission declared 2018 as the European Cultural Heritage Year, stating that “cultural heritage of the countries of Europe is an essential part of the collective memory and the identity of nations and plays an important economic role”.
This is why the Association of Historical Cities of Slovenia together with the Slovenian Tourist Board decided to present a vibrant, rich and diverse culture and the nobility of the cultural heritage in Brussels. Slovenian Culture Day will take place on Wednesday, 26 September, at Esplanade in front of the European Parliament in Brussels.The celebration will be opened by His Excellency, Mr. Rado Genori and Mrs Sylvia Guillaume, Vice President of the European Parliament.
Background
The Association of Historical Cities of Slovenia has been established in 2001 and connects the cities in that share the awareness that historical cities are the art treasure and tourist attraction, along with the realization that the preservation of cultural heritage enables economic and social development.
There are as many as eighteen historical towns and cities that are part of the association, including Celje, Idrija, Jesenice, Kamnik, Koper, Kostanjevica na Krki, Kranj, Ljubljana, Maribor, Metlika, Novo mesto, Piran, Ptuj, Radovljica, Slovenske Konjice, Škofja Loka, Tržič and Žužemberk.
