Days of National Costumes and Clothing Heritage are the largest ethnological festival in Slovenia, attracting more than 30,000 visitors to the charming town of Kamnik. The event traditionally takes place on the second weekend of September. It's the time when tradition joins forces with ethnography, culture and entertainment. The central event, which takes place on Sunday, includes a parade of several different folk costumes from all over the world. It is thus no wonder that The Guardian has ranked the festival among 20 great traditional festivals in Europe.

The beginnings of the event date back to 1966, when the locals organized the Day of National Costumes, which already back then attracted a large number of associations and individuals, both from Kamnik and from elsewhere. Since then, a number of years has passed by and the event has grown in size and also in terms of importance.

Make your stay in Slovenia a unique cultural experience and visit the event. This year, it takes place 6-9 September. Kamnik is located just a short drive from Ljubljana, there are good bus and train connections. What is more: tell a bus driver that you will be attending the festival and get a free ride to Kamnik (applicable only on the following rides, during the event, 6 – 9 September):

Friday, 7 September, departure from Ljubljana at 6pm, departure from Kamnik at 10:10 pm

Saturday, 8 September, departure from Ljubljana at 10am and 3pm, departure from Kamnik at 4pm and 10pm

Sunday, 9 September, departure from Ljubljana at 10am and 5pm, departure from Kamnik at noon and 9pm.
