Biking the Globe

The diagonal from Goričko, which lies in the north-eastern part of Slovenia, to Portorož on the south-western side measures 355 kilometres and this is the route, which Simon Eržen, a cycling legend from Slovenia will head to on 16 June. His goal is to beat the distance in 24 hours. The project supports a healthy lifestyle and promotes the active lifestyle.

Biking the Globe

Slovenia is green, active and healthy. Numerous events promote healthy lifestyle and among them is Diagonala 355, a project, which encourages Slovenians to “get active”. On 16 June, Simon Eržen, a multiple state champion in BMX, a cycling legend in Slovenia and former Yugoslavia, and a passionate adventurer, will start a 24 hour/335 kilometres long cycling route called #diagonala335. Starting at midnight in the northeastern part of Slovenia, in Goričko region and finishing the route in the late evening in the southwestern region, in Portorož, Simon will encourage spectators along the route to “get active” – which is also the slogan of the project.

Passionate cyclists measure joy in kilometres. Every kilometre along the way is unique. The diagonal through Slovenia is 335 km long. It starts in Goričko and ends in Portorož. It offers a great opportunity to admire Slovenian diversity.

The main purpose of this project is to encourage Slovenian people, especially young, to get more active in sports. Becoming more active is key in living a healthy life. Nowadays more and more people are facing stress and a lifestyle where the time of sitting is increasing and the time to get active is very limited. This is the idea behind #diagonala335 project.

Within this project, donations for the Foundation for supporting Slovenian athletes from disadvantaged backgrounds are collected.
