14 destinations and 3 accommodation providers receive SLOVENIA GREEN label
In 2016, the Slovenian Tourist Board launched the national programme Slovenia Green for tourism destinations and providers, which promotes sustainability in tourism. This year, 14 destinations and 3 accommodation providers have obtained the SLOVENIA GREEN label.

In 2016, the Slovenian Tourist Board developed the national programme Slovenia Green for tourism destinations and providers. This is an internationally comparable certification system that gathers all the initiatives in green tourism development in Slovenia. It functions as a tool for promoting and improving sustainability in tourism, while it at the same time promotes green destinations and providers, associated under the common brand SLOVENIA GREEN.
This year, 14 destinations have obtained the SLOVENIA GREEN DESTINATION label:
SLOVENIA GREEN GOLD: Rogaška Slatina, Bled, Komen
SLOVENIA GREEN SILVER: Šentjur, Novo mesto, Bohinj, Škofja Loka, Sevnica, Šmarješke Toplice, Koper, Hrpelje-Kozina
SLOVENIA GREEN BRONZE: Litija and Šmartno ob Litiji, Sežana, Divača
In addition, 3 accommodation providers have obtained SLOVENIA GREEN ACCOMMODATION label: Hotel Atrij Superior Terme Zreče, Hotel Natura Rogla and Dobrna Spa.
The Green Scheme of Slovenian Tourism (GSST) is managed by the Slovenian Tourist Board and runs in cooperation with a national accredited partner, the Factory of Sustainable Tourism GoodPlace, and an international partner, Green Destinations. The GSST covers two fundamental levels: destinations and tourism services providers. In the process of obtaining the Slovenia Green label, destinations are assessed according to the international standards of the Green Destinations Standard (GDS) and the European Tourism Indicators System (ETIS), while service providers must obtain or present one of the six internationally recognised labels that are verified by Slovenia Green: Biohotels, the EU Ecolabel, Green Globe, Green Key, TourCert and/or Travelife.
The comprehensive list of destinations and providers with SLOVENIA GREEN label is available here.
Slovenia Green Day, which is dedicated to the sustainable development of Slovenian tourism and the enlargement of the Slovenia Green family, will this year take place on 28 May.
