2017 marks a record-breaking year for Postojna Cave

The number of visitors to Postojna Cave in 2017 reached almost 780,000, which is 13 % more than in 2016. Between 25 December and 2 January, 24,107 visitors came to the cave, which is more than 15 % more than in the same period in the previous year.

2017 was a record-breaking year for Postojna Cave, which was visited by 13 % more guests than in 2016. The number of visitors reached almost 780,000, of which the majority (16 %) were from Italy, followed by Germans (8 %) and domestic visitors (7.5 %). More than 50,000 visitors or almost 7 % were from South Korea, while nations with more than 20,000 visitors included Poland, UK, Hungary, Spain, Israel, USA, Japan, Taiwan and China with Hong Kong.

The visit to Postojna Cave was excellent also during the holiday season. Between 25 December and 2 January, 24,107 visitors came to the cave, which is more than 15 % more than in the same period in the previous year. During this season, the Living Nativity Scenes were showcased in the cave.

In 2018, Postojna Cave celebrates two hundred years of guided tours. The cave first “opened its doors” to the public in April 1818. Since then, the cave’s unbelievable forms have been viewed by more than 38 million visitors from all over the world.
