Festive Lights Switch on all over Slovenia

Maribor, the second largest city in Slovenia, was the first to switch on the festive lights, and Ljubljana, Portorož, Celje and other towns and cities will follow this week. The Ice Fantasy in Kongresni Trg (Square), in the heart of Ljubljana, will be the biggest urban ice skating rink in Slovenia ever!

Festive Lights Switch on all over Slovenia

Maribor, the second largest city of Slovenia, situated in the east of the country, is known for being the home of the oldest vine in the world, and for its hospitable, open-hearted citizens. After the festive lights were switched on, the old town´s centre became a Christmas wonderland, offering concerts and one of the most colourful Advent Fairs in Slovenia. Maribor´s New Year´s Eve Grand Celebration will take place in Leon Štukelj Square, which is the biggest town square in Slovenia.

While the Slovenian towns and cities are illuminated by Christmas lights, urban ice rinks all around the country are one of the most charming festive attractions. The Ice Fantasy in the centre of Ljubljana has just opened as the biggest city ice skating rink ever. More than 600 ice skaters at a time will be able to rent ice skates and enjoy the ice dancing or the ice bar. Visitors will also have the opportunity to rent ice skates in Maribor, Kranj, Kamnik and other towns.

Celje, halfway between Ljubljana and Maribor, is also known for its Christmas fantasy in Fairytale Land, where fairies, dwarfs and other creatures accompany children visiting the old town of Celje and its Christmas Fair. This year giant illuminated characters will make the scene even more magical. A special welcome to festive Slovenia!
