Record-breaking Results for Slovenian Tourism in August

Our green, active and healthy land is on the brink of new tourist records. From the start of 2017 and up to the end of August, almost 9 million overnight stays were recorded in tourist accommodation in Slovenia. Almost 6 million tourist overnight stays were generated by foreign tourists, which is a 17 % increase compared to last year.

Record-breaking Results for Slovenian Tourism in August

In the eight months of the year, Slovenia recorded 8.8 million overnight stays, 12 % more than last year. An increase in overnight stays was noted for both foreign and domestic tourists; foreign tourists generated 68 % of all tourist overnight stays (nearly 6 million), which is 17 % more than last year, and 2.5 million arrivals, 18 % more than last year. Domestic tourists generated 2.8 million overnight stays (5% more) and more than 925,000 arrivals (6 % more) than in the same period last year.

The key traditional markets, which brought the most overnight stays by foreign tourists, were Germany (30 % arrivals, 29 % overnight stays), Austria (15 % more arrivals, 12 % more overnight stays) and Italy (7 % more arrivals, 5 % more overnight stays).

The biggest increase in numbers: Netherlands (38 % more arrivals, 35 % more overnight stays), Korea (36 % more arrivals, 35 % more overnight stays), Belgium (31 % more arrivals, 29 % more overnight stays), Russian Federation (28 % more arrivals, 41 % more overnight stays), Czech Republic (29 % more arrivals, 25 % more overnight stays), Poland (29 % more arrivals, 28 % more overnight stays), Slovakia (30 % more arrivals, 25 % more overnight stays), the United States of America (25 % more arrivals, 20 % more overnight stays), Hungary (22 % more arrivals, 17 % more overnight stays), France (14 % more arrivals, 16 % more overnight stays) and the United Kingdom (13 % more arrivals, 10 % more overnight stays).
