Green adventures and accommodations in Slovenia

Slovenia is a country with a green vista no matter which direction you turn – towards the Alpine peaks and extensive forests, the Adriatic Sea, the mysterious Karst and nearby vineyards, and the Pannonian Plain. May you be guided by a green thought that you can pass on to your guests. Acquaint them with Slovenia as a country with certified Slovenia Green destinations and service providers. This is a brand for sustainable tourism in Slovenia.

Slovenia Green – certified green destinations and service providers

Slovenia Green joins together all efforts directed towards sustainable development; it assesses and strengthens our green character and facilitates international comparison with other green destinations worldwide. To date 22 destinations, 14 service providers, 3 natural parks and 2 agencies have received Slovenia Green certificates.

Green tourist agencies in Slovenia

Visit GoodPlace and Roundabout Travel are the first certified sustainable tourist agencies in Slovenia. Through their programmes they introduce guests to local service providers and communities and take them to authentic adventure holidays in this green, active and healthy country. Have you ever seen a brown bear in its natural environment or baked bread on a tourist farm?

Slovenia Green Accommodation

Create a programme with Slovenia Green Accommodation that connects service providers with one of the six internationally recognized certificates (Biohotels, EU Ecolabel, Green Globe, EMAS, Green Key and/or Travelife).

One of the most sustainable hotels in the capital of Ljubljana, Hotel Park Ljubljana, is the first hotel in Slovenia awarded with the Travelife environmental brand; the hotel’s roof is home to bee families, which produce urban honey. The Terme Snovik thermal spa is an ideal starting point for green holidays in the medieval town of Kamnik, which is just a half-hour drive from the capital. The first EU environmental certificate Marjetica (EU Ecolabel) encourages guests to contact local producers and to experience green adventures, such as climbing to the top of Velika Planina, one of the largest still preserved shepherd settlements in Europe.

The Thermana Laško thermal spa is famous for its 160-year spa tradition and sustainability. Their programmes for tourists also offer local beer and honey. In the nearby Podčetrtek, considered to be the epicentre of thermal tourism in Slovenia, guests will find the Terme Olimia thermal spa with a new glamping village and Ortenia apartments  distinguished by their innovative sustainable construction.

Do not overlook what the Slovenia Green service providers have to offer. Treat your guests to the greenest adventures in Slovenia.
