Slovenia, the land of dream locations for filming

Slovenia is one of Europe’s most picturesque countries, with interesting views on offer at every step. It is thus no surprise that many foreign filmmakers have observed that our country is a microcosm of Europe as a whole. The Slovenian film infrastructure offers foreign producers logistical and technical support, as well as creative talent, professionals, artisans and assistants who understand visual creativity and film production.

The film History of Love by the screenwriter and director Sonja Prosenc, eagerly awaited by the international industry, is being shot as the first co-production between Slovenia, Norway and Italy, with writers and actors from all three countries. Recording is taking place at locations in Slovenia and Italy, while the film is accompanied by the duo Silence. On 26th June, the first take of the film was shot in Gorizia, Italy. The occasion was accompanied by the extraordinary news that the film had been selected as one of 25 live-action films which are to receive the financial support of Eurimages – the cultural support fund of the Council of Europe.

Besides the funding in Slovenia, the producers have also secured resources for the completion of the film by entering into co-production with Norwegian and Italian partners. This means that the film has become the first Slovenian project co-financed by the Norwegian Film Institute.
