Slovenia’s cuisine is set to rival the world’s best

The journalist Melinda Joe has marked Slovenia as a rising culinary star. In the online article “Slovenia’s cuisine is set to rival the world’s best” for the South China Morning Post, she states the reasons why it is worth visiting Slovenia from a culinary point of view. In addition to Ana Roš, who was crowned the World’s Best Female Chef, she also mentions a number of other Slovenian chefs who are writing the story of the success of Slovenian cuisine.

Slovenia’s cuisine is set to rival the world’s best

Slovenia is gaining in popularity on the world’s culinary map; it is homeland to renowned and established culinary masters. With her success and creativity, Ana Roš put Slovenia in the spotlight at the beginning of 2017, when she was crowned the World’s Best Female Chef and her restaurant Hiša Franko ranked 69th on the list of the World’s 100 Best Restaurants. She attracts foodies from all over the world and pampers them with sophisticated combinations and carefully selected local ingredients.

In addition to Ana Roš, a number of other masterchefs who are co-creating the Slovenian culinary fairytale are also mentioned in the article. Among them are: Matej Tomažič from the Vipava Valley (Homestead Majerija), Uroš Štefelin from Radovljica (Vila Podvin), Luka Košir from Central Slovenia (Grič), Janez Bratovž from Ljubljana (Restaurant JB), and Bine Volčič from Ljubljana (Monstera Bistro).

Slovenia has many other distinguished culinary masters who are moving the boundaries of delicious creations and tastes. These are Tomaž Kavčič from the Vipava Valley (Gostilna pri Lojzetu, Dvorec Zemono), Igor Jagodic from Ljubljana (Restaurant Strelec), and Andrej Kuhar from Velenje (Vila Herberstein), and the list can go on. Although they are not mentioned in the article, they certainly form an important part of the culinary story of Slovenia. With their help, Slovenia is becoming one of the most popular culinary destinations in the world.
