The 24th Tour of Slovenia cycling road race, which will start on 15th June in Koper and finish four days later in Novo mesto, will be broadcast live by the European sports network Eurosport. The broadcast is supported by the Slovenian Tourist Board after securing financial resources for the project, which will also promote Slovenia as a green tourist destination.
This year’s Tour of Slovenia is embraced by green. Everything about the race will be in this beautiful colour, including the logo of the race, the leader’s jersey and promotion of the most sustainable county in the world. "Intensive advertising of green, active and healthy Slovenia will take place between April and June, while Eurosport will broadcast events for six hours during the race, with more than two hours being dedicated to Slovenia's natural wonders, landscapes, and our icons," explained Maja Pak, the Director of the Slovenian Tourist Board.
In the green spirit, the race’s motto is "Fight for green" (#fightforgreen), which on the one hand directly refers to the battle for the leader's green jersey, and on the other raises awareness about keeping our planet green and healthy.
The race will feature four stages:
- Koper-Kočevje (159.4 km)
- Around Ljubljana (169.9 km)
- Celje-Rogla (167.7 km)
- Rogaška Slatina-Novo mesto (160 km)
The organisers have announced that there will be five elite teams at the start: Bora-Hansgroge, Orica-Scott, Dimension Data, UAE Emirates and Bahrain Merida.
