Healthy waters of Slovenia emerge from the underground depths, rich with minerals and other beneficial substances. Slovenia offers a range of high-quality wellness and medical programs in natural health resorts. The tourist information portal DJ Slovenia has chosen the best wellness centres in Slovenia for the season of 2016/2017. The winners were announced after a public vote, where more than 13,500 votes of wellness enthusiasts were cast.

The main purpose of the selection remains to provide as much information and data on healthy lifestyles to the general public, and to promote Slovenian wellness centres. The organiser of the selection, the tourist information portal DJ Slovenia, commented: "Each year new wellness products and services are developed, which all emphasise relaxation and a healthy diet. Wellness is no longer only relaxation in saunas and swimming pools, and we want to present it to all who want to improve their lives. At the same time, the selection of the best wellness providers encourages healthy competition between the centres and raises the quality of their services." The wellness centres are divided into five categories and the winners are:
- Tourism – large: Wellness Orhidelia at Terme Olimia
- Tourism – small: Spa & Wellness Centre Paradiso Dobova
- Countryside wellness: Wellness centre Lara at Jelenov greben
- Large facility: Wellness centre in Water Park Atlantis Ljubljana
- Small facility: Oaza miru, Wellness & Spa Maribor
Slovenia has an enormous wealth of underground sources of mineral and thermal water. The facilities at the country’s natural spas are developing medical, wellness and selfness programmes. Some of these health resorts and spa centres are among the best in Europe, and are famous for their outstanding programmes of preventive care, treatment, rehabilitation or relaxation. They are spread around Slovenia like a necklace from the Pannonian plains, orchards, and vineyards of eastern and south-eastern Slovenia, and they reach even the Slovenian coast in the west of the country.
You can find some great ideas for spring detox or antistress relief at the official page of the Slovenian natural spas or in the brochure Healthy Waters.
