The Golden Fox welcomes the best female skiers to Maribor
The Golden Fox (Zlata Lisica) skiing spectacle at Mariborsko Pohorje ski resort is about to start. On 7th and 8th January, Maribor will host the grand goodbye of Tina Maze who will challenge other best female skiers in the world for the last time. Will she be the one to win the title of the ‘Best Fox’?

This year the atmosphere will be especially exciting for the fans, as Tina Maze, one of the greatest Alpine skiers of all times and the ambassador of Slovenian tourism, will race down the slope for the last time in her professional career. After the fight to win the Golden Fox Cup, she will say goodbye to skiing competitions. Did you know that Tina Maze is one of the magnificent six female skiers who have won golden medals in all five disciplines? The queen of the white slopes is also one of the rare skiers to achieve this incredible success in the course of a single season. She is also the record holder of the total number of World Cup points gathered in one season.
The best women alpine skiers will meet at the Pohorje Hills above Maribor, the second largest Slovenian city, famous for the green, active and healthy life of its residents who are proud to have the oldest vine in the world. In 1964, when the Golden Fox competition took place for the first time, both men and women participated in the competition. The first champion was a man, a triple Olympic champion named Jean Claude Killy. From 1965, the Golden Fox is a female competition and celebration, marked by the happy fox, the symbol of the race.
