Festive train adventures in Slovenia

Take a train ride to the festive Slovenian towns, such as the romantic capital of Ljubljana – the European Green Capital 2016; Maribor, the second largest city of Slovenia nestled among the wine hills; Celje, the town of the Counts with its medieval charm; or Koper, the town with a Venetian touch and the biggest Slovenian port, among others. A ticket to the festive train is a ticket to a December fairytale in Slovenia.

Festive train adventures in Slovenia

In December, enjoy a festive train adventure with Santa Claus navigating an almost 100-year-old museum train. The magic crew will take you to festively decorated towns in Slovenia and abroad. Some trains are even accompanied by magic fairies, making fairytales come true. Children really enjoy the adventure of travelling to the fairytale land in Celje, to winter wonderland at Bled and around Slovenia’s festive towns.

Since the beginning of December, Slovenian Railways have been operating under a new schedule. In international traffic, the new schedule brings some important and attractive innovations e.g. a daily direct bus connection between Ljubljana and Trieste (2 x daily), which is the result of cooperation between Slovenian Railways and Arriva. Buses have connections to high-speed trains from Trieste to Venice, Bologna, Florence, Milan, Rome and other Italian cities. Slovenian Railways offers the best low-cost tickets for travelling from Slovenia to European cities. There are multiple daily connections with Germany, Croatia, Serbia and Hungary.
