This years World Tourism Day was marked with a special event. The Global Green Destination Day (GGDD) international conference emphasised the increasing need for sustainable development and green orientation.

This year`s World Tourism Day was marked with a special event. The Global Green Destination Day (GGDD) international conference emphasised the increasing need for sustainable development and green orientation. The best practices of green and sustainable tourism implemented in Slovenia and across the world were acknowledged at a special evening ceremony of Global Green Destinations Day.

The Global Green Destination Day (GGDD) international conference, held in Ljubljana, the European Green Capital 2016, gathered renowned experts, together with representatives of the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA), the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA), acknowledged international organisations in the field of sustainable development such as Umanotera, TIES (the International Ecotourism Society) and Travelife, as well as others, to discuss the topics important to tourism as well as to society and the environment.
