German tour operators visited Slovenia

A group of 60 tour operators from Germany, along with 15 journalists, have visited Slovenia. This is the fourth major group of representatives of the German tourism industry in Slovenia this year. The topic of the visit was active retreats in Slovenia. The German tour operators visited the Slovenian coast and hinterland of Slovenian Istria.

The programme of the study visit also included a visit to Ljubljana, the European Green Capital 2016, Postojna Cave and iconic alpine town of Bled. Majda Rozina Dolenc, the head of the Slovenian Tourist Board’s representative office in Germany, said that study visits by foreign partners always include Slovenian tourism icons. An important focus was also on the Slovenian coast. The tour operators and journalists visited Izola, Piran, Portorož and the hinterland of Slovenian Istria, where they learned about the range of accommodation and local events for tourists.

Germany is a major market for Slovenia, as German tourists generated 10.9% of total overnight stays by foreign guests in the first eight months of the year. The Slovenian partners of the German visit were Kranjska Gora HIT Alpinea, Planica Nordic Centre, Mojstrana, the Triglav National Park and the Natura 2000 project.
