Dr Taleb Rifai named Ambassador of Slovenian Tourism

The Days of Slovenian Tourism represent the main professional event in Slovenian tourism. This year Slovenia proclaimed Dr Taleb Rifai (General Secretary of UNWTO, the UN World Tourism Organisation) as an Ambassador of Slovenian Tourism. In the plenary part of the event, titled “The era of creative thinking”, distinguished guests discussed the current challenges in tourism. The participants also enjoyed the 63rd Catering and Tourism Assembly; the event My Country – Beautiful and Hospitable; and the 19th Slovenian Tourism Forum, with the theme “Content digital marketing”.

A gala event, with the highest awards in Slovenian tourism, was held in the evening. The Ministry of Economic Development and Technology of Slovenia announced Dr Taleb Rifai as an Ambassador of Slovenian Tourism for his cooperation with Slovenia and for presenting the country as a remarkable tourist destination, worth visiting. The Slovenian FIJET (World Federation of Travel Journalists and Writers) awarded the destination Brda, the land of invigorating moments, with a “Tourism Oscar”, the Crystal Triglav Award, for the increased recognition of Brda in Slovenia and abroad. Awards for lifetime achievements to individuals and the Sejalec 2016 award for innovative achievements in Slovenian tourism were also announced.

The Days of Slovenian Tourism are an opportunity to review the current situation and to make the plans for the future. The focus this year was on creative thinking, content digital marketing and the challenges of tourism in the next strategic period.
