The Daily Mail has prepared a list of the ten most environmentally-friendly tourist destinations in the world. Slovenia is on the list.

Slovenia and Ljubljana, the European Green Capital 2016 feature on the list of the ten most environmentally-friendly tourist destinations in the world. The famous British newspaper, the Daily Mail brought together a group of tourism and travel experts, who listed the destinations. The article points out that eco-tourism is becoming increasingly popular as an important part of sustainable development. 

The countryside and towns in green, active and healthy Slovenia, where you can relax at eco-tourist farms and experience an authentic life outside the city, impressed the experts and authors of the 10 best eco-tourism destinations in the world list. The British newspaper the Daily Mail pointed out the Slovenian Alps, where hikers can choose from many hiking and mountaineering routes offering incredible views, and the capital Ljubljana: “The city was voted the European Green Capital 2016. It claims to be the first European city to move towards zero waste and part of that is to install special bins that charge users according to how much waste is disposed of. It also has city buses that run on natural gas, an urban electric train and 46 % of the land within the municipality is indigenous woodland.”
