I feel SLOVEnia on Alchemy of the Balkans

In October, Al Jazeera Balkans began to broadcast the documentary show “Alchemy of the Balkans in Slovenia”, with the legendary Goran Milić as its host. The travelogue series was filmed in Slovenia in spring 2016 and takes you to towns and villages along the coast and in the mountains. On his blog, Goran shared some of the insights of his travels and his experience of Slovenia.

Goran Milič, the host of the “Alchemy of the Balkans in Slovenia” travelled through Slovenia several times before filming the documentary show, but never got to know it to the fullest. He was happy to be given the opportunity to include it in his travels and work. During his stay in Slovenia, he and the crew interviewed more than hundred people in search of unique stories, avoiding stereotypes and representing the human side of the country’s story:

* Marjan Batagelj, the CEO of Postojna Cave, the most visited tourist attraction in Slovenia

* Samo Login, the richest Slovenian and inventor of the Talking Tom,

* Izet Rastoder, the third biggest European banana distributor

* Peter Bossman, a doctor from Ghana and now the Mayor of Piran and Portorož

* Jani Novak, the frontman of avant-garde industrial music group Laibach, which was the first foreign music group to perform in North Korea

* Milan Kučan, the first president of independent Slovenia, and many others.
