A variety of summer events in Ljubljana and Maribor

Ana Desetnica 2010 – Festival of Street Theatre 1 to 4 July, streets, squares and parks in the centre of Ljubljana The Ana Desetnica International Festival of Street Theatre presents a large number of street artists, clowns, circus performers, jugglers, tightrope walkers, fire-eaters, musicians, provocateurs, dancers and actors from Slovenia and beyond.

A variety of summer events in Ljubljana and Maribor

Thousands of different events take place in Ljubljana and Maribor over the summer. Street events, the Ljubljana Festival and the Ljubljana Jazz Festival are just a few of them. Other notable events include the June in Ljubljana festival, the Lent Festival 2010 and the Beer Fest at the GR Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre, where you will also be able to watch football matches on a big screen (Slovenia is playing in the World Cup in South Africa).

Fun and entertainment by day and high culture in the evening, free of charge, in the heart of the city. June in Ljubljana will be livened up by over 60 free events in Prešeren Square.

Ljubljana Festival 2010
6 July to 26 August 2010
Highlights of the summer festival season include: Robert Wilson`s production of Bach`s St John Passion, two performances by the Eifman Ballet of St Petersburg (Anna Karenina and Russian Hamlet), Haydn`s monumental oratorio The Creation performed by the Münchner Philharmoniker and internationally renowned soloists, a ballet by world-famous choreographer Maurice Béjart, performed by Béjart Ballet Lausanne, and three performances by the orchestra of the Mariinsky Theatre from St Petersburg with conductor Valery Gergiev, who will also conduct the London Symphony Orchestra.

BeerFest Slovenia – A major central European beer festival
16 to 20 June 2010, GR Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre, Dunajska cesta 18

Many different types of beer from central Europe will be available at this major central European beer festival. The festival also includes concerts, accompanying events for children and adults, and live broadcasts of World Cup football matches from South Africa.

51st Ljubljana Jazz Festival
29 June to 3 July 2010, Cankarjev Dom, Križanke
Featuring performances by top names from the world of jazz, the annual Ljubljana Jazz Festival attracts numerous jazz fans from Slovenia and abroad.

A quality multicultural programme offers something for even the most demanding festival-goers: around 30 festival venues, concerts of classical, jazz, popular and world music, singer-songwriter and chanson evenings, theatre and dance performances, concerts, drama, puppet shows and creative workshops for children, sports events, the Folkart international folk festival, the Jazzlent festival and the Festival of Street Theatre.
