Over the summer, the Jakopič Walkway in Ljubljanas Tivoli Park has been turned into the setting for a photographic exhibition of theatre events. Coming soon is the 2010 kayak and canoe slalom world championship, something that will be heralded by the upcoming Ljubljana Water Games. Those who like running and nature will enjoy the Little Bled Marathon and the Eco Race in Mojstrana.

Sculptured Time in the Theatre of Tomaž Pandur

From 20 July to 1 September 2010, the internationally established Slovenian photographer Aljoša Rebolj will present at the gallery in Jakopič Walkway an overview exhibition of 120 photographs from theatre productions by director Tomaž Pandur, who has made a mark on modern European theatre with his unique approach. The exuberant and spectacularly colourful theatre creations of Tomaž Pandur, which are for the most part staged as international coproductions, have been labelled by European institutions in this field and by critics as "theatre of the new millennium``. The exhibition, Sculptured Time in the Theatre of Tomaž Pandur (Skulpturirani čas v gledališču Tomaža Pandurja) is in the only open-air gallery where the photographs can also be viewed at night, with appropriate lighting provided.


Kayak and Canoe Slalom World Championship 2010

The Ljubljana kayak course is world-famous for providing a challenge to anyone out to tame the rapids. Slovenia`s kayaking tradition, ecology and the history of Ljubljana will be the themes of the accompanying Ljubljana Water Games (from 21 to 23 August), which will take place on the Ljubljanica River in Ljubljana`s Old Town.


2nd Little Bled Marathon

Date: 21 August 2010
Venue: The shores of Lake Bled

On 21 August 2010 Bled’s OLIMPIK Sports Tourism Society, whose president is one of the most successful former Slovenian rowers and Olympic competitors, Jani Klemenčič, will be staging the 2nd Little Bled Marathon along the shores of Lake Bled. At the same time runners can opt to join in the recreational family run, covering 5,800 metres, while walkers can take part in the walk up to Straža (635 metres above sea level), fast walkers can do the circuit of the lake event, and the youngest contenders can have fun in the Zaki Children`s Race. There won` just be running at Bled, and the organisers have come up with a number of other activities including an evening concert by a well-known Slovenian group.

Eco Race – to promote the cultural and natural heritage of the Alps

On Sunday 8 August 2010 the Olimpik Sports Tourism Society will be staging a non-competitive 10 kilometre run in Mojstrana. This will be held as part of the Alpine Convention Day, and covers what must certainly be one of the most beautiful running courses in Slovenia, along the margin of three Alpine valleys – Krma, Vrata and Kot. At the same time, a hike along the trails of the Triglav folk tales will be staged for families and hiking enthusiasts.
